The cross-border logistics sector is so busy that it operates around the clock and still struggles to keep up. An upgraded version of cross-border logistics is desperately needed.

Despite being the weekend, the Fuyuan community in Futian, Shenzhen, was still bustling with traffic, with large and small trucks coming and going in the surrounding areas.
As an important “weathervane” of the national economy, the logistics industry connects production on one end and consumption on the other, linking the national and even global markets. The development of cross-border e-commerce and the construction of the international logistics system have also been included in this year’s government work report, placing them at equal importance. What is the current development trend of the logistics industry? Securities Times journalists recently visited the Shenzhen Bao’an District Fuwei community, known as the “International Logistics Village,” to investigate logistics parks, express logistics companies, e-commerce companies, and more, feeling the temperature of the industry and market.
The logistics park in the Fuwei community, adjacent to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, is well-equipped with supporting logistics industries and gathers nearly 650 logistics companies, boasting rich warehousing and supply chain resources.
Driving along National Highway 107 towards Shenzhen Bao’an District Fugang and Shajing, one can see numerous trucks of various sizes shuttling back and forth, with logistics parks scattered on both sides of the road. The containers are constantly in and out of the parks. One of the logistics parks in the area, the Shenzhen Modern International Logistics Park, is home to nearly 30 enterprises, including major logistics giants such as SF Express, Shentong, and JD Logistics. The goods and products sent to this park include imports from overseas, as well as goods that will be exported overseas through cross-border e-commerce platforms in Shenzhen and surrounding cities.
The park’s manager told the journalist that the park resumed operations on the ninth day of the first lunar month, earlier than usual, with almost every enterprise fully staffed and back to work. The journalist also saw that in the afternoon, loaded container trucks queued at the park’s entrance waiting to load and unload, and workers in the warehouses were busy sorting and handling goods.
At the warehouse of Shenzhen Lianyuan Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., there were also piles of imported goods from overseas. Dou Jianlei, General Manager of the company, said that these goods are imported to Hong Kong and then distributed to bonded warehouses in the mainland before being sent to buyers in the mainland. In addition, there are small packages from Shenzhen’s cross-border e-commerce, which are transported to overseas destinations by rail and air. The company is responsible for the domestic transportation环节 of these goods. “In previous years, we only resumed operations after the Lantern Festival, but this year, many customers started booking warehouses as early as the seventh day of the first lunar month, and we soon hit capacity. Now we can’t accommodate any more incoming goods,” Dou Jianlei told the journalist. After the New Year, the warehouse has been operating almost 24 hours a day, and manpower has become tight, so the company is currently hiring more staff.
Within less than 5 kilometers of the Modern International Logistics Park is the Baiwei International Intelligent Logistics Park. Crates of goods were ready to be shipped to the airport for customs clearance and then exported overseas. The park’s manager, Sun Yuhan， said that due to the frequent overloading of cargo inspection areas at the airport’s international freight station during holidays, goods need to wait for a longer time to be inspected, so bonded warehouses near the airport can handle cargo weighing, labeling, security checks, and other procedures, easing the pressure on airport warehouses.
“The goods here are all destined for overseas delivery, some shipped from Shenzhen, and others first collected in Hunan and Hubei and then shipped overseas. The products are mostly 3C products and fast-fashion items, which are popular categories in cross-border e-commerce sales,” Sun Yuh涵 said. Since the beginning of the year, the company has received logistics orders 10% to 20% higher than the same period last year, especially from customers in the cross-border e-commerce platform.
Shenzhen’s “International Logistics Village” is a microcosm of the high optimism in China’s logistics industry since last year. Data shows that in January, China’s logistics industry confidence index was 52.7%, continuing the recovery trend from the fourth quarter of last year.
